This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating high-quality instructional programs, fostering student achievement and participation, and promoting excellence in arts education across all campuses.                                                            The Director will collaborate with campus and district leaders to support curriculum alignment, instructional growth, educator development, and community engagement. This individual also manages key operational components, including program budgets, staffing, scheduling, compliance, UIL contests, and partnerships. QUALIFICATIONS:                        Required:                        Master’s degree in Education or a related fine arts content area from an accredited college or university                        Texas teaching certification in Music, Art, Dance, or Theatre                        Minimum of five (5) years of classroom teaching experience in a fine arts discipline                        Preferred                        Mid-management or principal certification                        Three (3) or more years of district-level leadership experience in fine arts education                                                SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:                                    Experience in the leadership and management of a successful K–12 visual and/or performing arts program                        Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional practices, and student assessment in fine arts                        Knowledge of UIL, TMEA, and TAEA policies and procedures related to contests, evaluations, and eligibility                        Understanding of district budgeting processes, including general and federal funds                        Familiarity with booster club guidelines, master scheduling, and private lesson program structures                        Ability to manage complex budgets and resources across multiple campuses and programs                        Skill in evaluating instructional programs and teacher effectiveness                        Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with staff, students, parents, and community partners                        Proficiency in coordinating professional development and instructional coaching                        Capacity to supervise and support campus fine arts personnel                        Ability to interpret and implement policy, procedures, and data to drive program decisions                        Ability to plan and lead staff development aligned with district and state standards                        Ability to build partnerships with external organizations, artists, consultants, and community stakeholders                        Ability to travel frequently and maintain visibility across district events, contests, and performances                        Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and maintain emotional control in dynamic environments                        MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:                                                            Instructional Leadership and Program Oversight                                    Direct curriculum and instructional services for all PVA content areas to meet district goals and student needs                        Lead the review, selection, and implementation of instructional materials, resources, and equipment                        Analyze student performance and apply data to drive instructional improvement and equity in access                        Provide regular feedback to teachers and principals on program effectiveness and instructional quality                        Collaborate with campus leaders to support teacher recruitment, hiring, and placement in PVA disciplines                        Develop, implement, and revise guidelines and frameworks to ensure alignment with TEKS, district priorities, and state mandates                                                Professional Learning and Capacity Building                                    Design and deliver ongoing professional development for fine arts teachers and leaders                        Supervise the private lesson and master class programs for PVA students                        Facilitate instructional coaching, program-specific training, and collaborative planning opportunities                                                Compliance, Operations, and Logistics                                    Oversee all UIL, TMEA, and TAEA fine arts activities, including eligibility, registration, rule interpretation, and supervision                        Support the master scheduling process to ensure appropriate course offerings and staffing allocations                        Coordinate travel, transportation, and supervision for centrally funded co-curricular and extracurricular PVA activities                        Serve as a resource for interpreting policies related to booster clubs, fundraising, and parent support organizations                                                Budget and Resource Management                                    Develop and manage central department budgets, including general, federal, and grant funding                        Monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with district policies and program needs                        Supervise budget and staffing for private lesson and master class programs                                                Community Engagement and Advocacy                                    Maintain high visibility across campuses and the community by attending concerts, exhibitions, contests, and performances                        Build and sustain partnerships with local artists, arts organizations, and educational institutions                        Communicate effectively with principals, staff, parents, and community stakeholders to promote fine arts initiatives                                                General Leadership and Supervision                                    Supervise and evaluate appropriate departmental staff                        Contribute to the district’s Five-Year Education Plan and other strategic initiatives                        Compile, maintain, and present reports, records, and documentation as required                        Secure consultants, guest artists, and external specialists to enhance instruction and program enrichment                        Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent                        WORKING CONDITIONS:                                                            Physical Demands / Environmental Factors:                                    The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require physical mobility, prolonged sitting and standing, use of a computer, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. This position requires frequent travel within the district and occasional statewide travel.                                                            Mental Demands:                                    Ability to manage multiple complex projects, interpret policy and research, analyze data, and solve problems effectively. Directs a one-act play to be used in University Interscholastic League One-Act Play competition.                        Sponsors a local troupe of the International Thespian Society.                        Supervises students during all rehearsals and performances.                        Plans a method of evaluation for students.                                    Administers the operation of the drama program.                        Coordinates all activities with the building calendar and the Director of Performing and Visual Arts.                        Assumes responsibility for budgeting, requisitioning and accounting for all drama funds and activity money.                        Communicates with parents regarding activities scheduled for drama students.                        Advises administration of accomplishments in competitions.                                    Exemplifies citizenship, sportsmanship and professionalism in behavior and performance of duties.                        Promotes community understanding of the drama program through communication with parents, concern for students and presentation of attractive public performances.                        Remains current in the area of theater education through professional organizations, literature, workshops and in-service programs.                                    Complies with the position description for the classroom teacher.                                    Performs other appropriate duties as assigned by the principal.
