Job Description: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruct students in secondary technology theatre arts curriculum.
Demonstrates knowledge of current industry trends, methodologies and practices.
Maintain technology theatre arts inventory and general technology theatre department operations.
Demonstrates knowledge of set design, stage lighting, sound design and construction of props.
Support all District policies regarding welfare and education of theatre arts students.
Demonstrates knowledge of health and safety requirements related to school environments, including first aid and disaster response.
Coordinate campus technology theatre instruction to provide support to all theatre activities, Campus/District programs and events
Actively participate in professional development of teaching competencies, including District/State/National opportunities for developing theatre arts instructional skills.
Actively participate in professional organizations which foster and support theatre arts education at the local, State, and National level.
Coordinate technical theatre arts opportunities for students and perform at campus, District, State, and National events.
Develop a successful working knowledge of UIL and TETA activities, coordinating all technology theatre support required for successful participation.
Perform any other duties as assigned.

Job Description: Southwest ISD is seeking an energetic, dynamic, and hard-working individual to teach Theatre and be the head theatre director for the 2025-2026 school year at Southwest High School. This position requires high-energy applicants that are student centered and build positive student connections. Southwest High School has had a strong program for many years producing many plays and musicals and showing high success in the UIL One Act Play process. Applicants should demonstrate strengths in all aspects of theatre: teaching & directing, leading a two-person team with the technical director who oversees technical aspects and safety, such as building sets, sound and lighting design. This position will require managing auditorium event operations, all productions, UIL High School One Act Play Contest, and managing a program with vertical alignment with the Southwest ISD Theatre program.
