Southwest ISD Campus: Southwest High School Job Title: Head Theatre Director
Job Description: Southwest ISD is seeking an energetic, dynamic, and hard-working individual to teach Theatre and be the head theatre director for the 2025-2026 school year at Southwest High School. This position requires high-energy applicants that are student centered and build positive student connections. Southwest High School has had a strong program for many years producing many plays and musicals and showing high success in the UIL One Act Play process. Applicants should demonstrate strengths in all aspects of theatre: teaching & directing, leading a two-person team with the technical director who oversees technical aspects and safety, such as building sets, sound and lighting design. This position will require managing auditorium event operations, all productions, UIL High School One Act Play Contest, and managing a program with vertical alignment with the Southwest ISD Theatre program. The successful applicant will teach Theatre Arts, Theatre Productions, UIL One Act directing, and Musical Theatre in grades 9-12 at Southwest High School, serve as faculty sponsor for the Southwest Thespian Troupe, and help build a strong Theatre program. The applicant must have the ability to work with high school-aged students, maintain positive working relationships with parents, students, teachers, and administration. A strong work ethic, positive enthusiasm, a high level of organization, and strong classroom management is required. The ability to speak Spanish is a plus. Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre and also possess a valid Texas Teachers Certificate in Theatre EC-12. Experience is preferred.
