Job Description:
Lake Belton High School is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and visionary Theatre Director to lead our award-winning theatre program. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a high-standard artistic environment while mentoring students in the craft of acting, technical production, and theatrical theory. This role requires a leader who can maintain the "Bronco" spirit of excellence through both classroom instruction and mainstage productions.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
Teach a comprehensive curriculum for Theatre Arts I-IV. Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students with varying skill levels and backgrounds. Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to creative expression and safe physical practice.
Production & Directing
Serve as the artistic lead for the annual production season, including play selection and casting.
Direct and manage the school’s entry into the UIL One-Act Play competition.
Supervise all technical aspects of productions, including lighting, sound, set construction, and costumes.
Fine Arts Collaboration
Annual Musical: Lead the planning and execution of the Annual Musical in a high-level partnership with the Fine Arts staff.
Interdisciplinary Coordination: Work in tandem with the Choir Director (vocal music), Band Director and Orchestra Director (orchestration/pit), to produce a professional-grade musical production.
Unified Scheduling: Participate in department-wide calendar planning to ensure equitable use of the auditorium and resources across all fine arts disciplines.
Administrative & Community Oversight
Manage the department budget, including fundraising efforts and ticket sales.
Coordinate with the Theatre Booster Club to support program goals and student scholarships.
Ensure all productions comply with district safety standards and copyright/licensing laws.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (Theatre or Fine Arts focus preferred).
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in Theatre (EC-12).
Knowledge & Experience
Proven experience directing high school or collegiate theatrical productions.
Strong familiarity with UIL One-Act Play rules and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across different artistic departments.
Core Competencies
Communication: Ability to clearly communicate with students, parents, administration, and the community.
Organization: Exceptional "stage-manager" level logistical skills for handling rehearsals, budgets, and technical deadlines.
Adaptability: A positive, solution-oriented mindset when facing the inevitable "opening night" surprises.
