Job Description: Key Responsibilities1. Instruction & Curriculum: Deliver engaging instruction in acting methodologies, script analysis, theater history, and technical design (sets, lighting, sound, makeup, and costumes). Align all lessons with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Middle School Theatre Arts. Adapt and modify the curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners, including working cooperatively with special education teachers to implement IEPs and 504 plans. 2. Theatrical Productions & ExtracurricularsPlan, organize, cast, and direct multiple campus-wide theatrical productions per year (typically a fall show, a musical, or a spring showcase). Coordinate all production elements including managing student stage crews and technical operations.Enforce academic eligibility requirements (Texas "No Pass, No Play" rules) and monitor student grades to verify production eligibility. 3. UIL & Competitive EventsSelect, prepare, and direct students for the annual UIL Middle School One-Act Play (OAP) competition. Maintain a thorough, working knowledge of current UIL rules, compliance standards, and deadlines. Prepare students for participation in state-recognized events or junior theater festivals (e.g., Texas Thespians or TxETA). 4. Departmental & Program AdministrationDevelop and manage the campus theatre department budget, tracking income from fundraisers and ticket sales alongside district allocations. Maintain an active, organized inventory of all fixed assets (lighting boards, tools, microphones, costumes, and props). Job Description:  Red Oak High School has an opening for the 26-27 school year for Theatre Director. This position oversees the entire high school theatre department, coordinates and collaborates with both of our middle school feeder programs and directors, and is supported by a Technical Director. Teaching duties would include a varsity and non-varsity production class, a stand-alone musical class, and Theatre 1-4 classes. Compensation is the district salary schedule plus a stipend. Red Oak is a newly elevated 6A high school on the southern end of the DFW metroplex, our Performing Arts Center has recently undergone a complete LED lighting upgrade, and audio upgrades are scheduled to be completed this fall.
