Job Description:
Lake Travis ISD is now accepting applications for the Head of Acting & Directing / Theatre Teacher position for the 2026–2027 school year at Lake Travis High School.
The Theatre Department at LTHS is highly successful, thriving, and well-supported by campus and district administration. Students in the program are high-achieving, dedicated, and committed to excellence, consistently demonstrating strong work ethic and professionalism.
Recent program accomplishments include:
Texas Thespian State Festival Improv Competition: 2nd Place (2025), 3rd Place (2024)
UIL One Act Play: Advanced to Bi-District (2026) and Area (2024)
Major productions include a fall play, spring musical, UIL One Act Play, senior-directed one-act plays, and several additional performances throughout the year such as dinner theatre and class showcases.
Courses offered include Theatre I–IV, Advanced Theatre I, Theatre Production I–IV, Directing, and Musical Theatre. A large and active Thespian Troupe provides extensive extracurricular opportunities, leadership development, and student engagement through events, competitions, and travel.
Facilities are exceptional. In addition to a dedicated studio theatre classroom with integrated rehearsal spaces, students regularly perform in the district’s state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center, which includes:
A 1,500-seat concert hall
A black box theatre
A 275-seat recital hall used frequently as an extension of the theatre classroom
Position Focus:
This role is primarily centered on acting instruction and directing, with a strong emphasis on preparing students for UIL One Act Play competition. While the department produces a spring musical, the acting teacher’s involvement in the musical will be collaborative and aligned with individual strengths, allowing for a primary focus on instructional excellence and UIL preparation.
Lake Travis High School is located approximately 20 miles west of downtown Austin, nestled in the scenic rolling hills and lake community of Lake Travis.
