Job Description:
Alief Taylor HS is a 6A theatre program in West Houston, with an active theatre program and an assistant theatre director. Alief ISD is the most diverse district in the US and is a wonderful melting pot of students! Alief has one of the highest paid salaries and offers competitive stipends for their theatre directors. Alief is a participating Teacher Incentive Allotment district offering TIA certification to its fine arts programs as well as academics with Masters teachers earning up to $19,000 per year.
• Valid Texas teacher certification in Theatre
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 3 years theatre teaching experience preferred
• Lead teacher to oversee and manage all aspects of the theatre program for 9-12.
• Will need both technical and directorial production experience
• Ability to create a balanced Theatre program that serves both actors and technical students’ needs.
• Enthusiastic instructional leadership focused on maintaining and continuing to build a strong program with improvement in student performance, participation, innovation, and success in collaboration with an assistant theatre director.
• Demonstrated creative, organizational, and instructional skills to contribute to a successful comprehensive high school theatre program, both acting and technical
• Demonstrated communication skills to promote a shared vision and foster harmony and teamwork with students, parents, colleagues, campus administration, and staff.
• Possess management and communication skills to ensure a positive and safe learning environment for all theatre students.
• Ability to exhibit the highest standards of professional integrity and respect in student, parent, school, and community relationships.
*Strong Technical theatre skills are a priority for hiring.
• Direct/coordinate one musical every other year, with the campus music department.
• Demonstrated expertise in innovative theatre curriculum and instructional methods, leading to the preparation of advanced literature to an exemplary level of performance.
• Demonstrated organizational and instructional skills to develop and maintain exemplary level theatrical productions for grades 9-12, including UIL One Act Play performances and fall/spring shows.
• Demonstrated fiscal responsibility through efficient use of staff, materials, and resources, while ensuring all district funds are expended transparently and in the best interest of the organization.
